This is part of a series of articles designed to help you and your teams to move through the seven stages of change when it comes to AI readiness in the workplace.
In the previous articles we wrote about stages 1 and 2 of the Kubler-Ross Change Curve (Shock and Denial) in relation to AI, and some actions you and your teams can take to move through these stages as quickly as possible. Are any of your people in frustration now?
STAGE 3 – FRUSTRATION
The ongoing discussions and developments around AI can feel incredibly frustrating. You might be asking: “Why another major change?”, “How are we supposed to implement this on top of everything else?” or perhaps, “This is just creating more problems than it solves for my IT infrastructure/L&D pipeline!”
Of course, it’s completely natural for us humans to feel this way. The pace of change with AI can feel overwhelming, disruptive, and like it’s imposing itself on your well-established systems and processes.
It can also feel like it’s impossible to keep up. I think it often IS impossible to keep fully up to date, so perhaps we need to remove that expectation and focus more on continuous learning and practical implementation.
Here’s how to help your people who are experiencing frustration:
- Acknowledge and validate people’s frustrations.
- Provide clear opportunities for feedback.
- Focus on offering solutions that give people a sense of control.
- Turn that frustration and feeling of chaos into an opportunity to target pain points with practical strategies and training.
Next we’ll be taking a detailed look at the Depression stage. In the meantime why not take a look at our free quiz to find out whereabouts on the curve you are at the moment?
